Function
To detach virtual 7900 identifiers from GEORGE 3 to enable them to be connected to another function under Communications Manager.
Format
With Format 2, the issuing device is freed unlessthe device is central in which case a command error is generated.

Execution
Format 1
The parameter is checked to ensure that the specified identifier is on the installation and a MOPped ON virtual 7900. Unless the command is issued centrally, a further check is made that the identifier is within the same cluster as the issuing device. If the specified identifier is busy, an error is reported. The action taken is then as given below.
Format 2
If a job is being run from the issuing terminal, this job is put into
limbo and the message
JOB IN LIMBO : IDENTIFIER FREE
is output to the monitoring file.
Formats 1 and 2
A supervisory is sent to Communications Manager indicating that it
requires to change the state of the identifier for which the command
was given. The new state of the identifier appears to Communications
Manager as 'partly open'. The message
IDENTIFIER x HAS BECOME FREE
is output to the central and, if appropriate, cluster console
