ICL 1900 Series George 3 Operating System Commands

RESTORE (RS)

Function

Restores a core image from a saved file.

Format

RESTORE file description

After the command has been obeyed the context will be CORE IMAGE.

Forbidden contexts

NO USER, PROGRAM, BREAK-IN

Execution

Any existing core image will be overwritten, as in LOAD. The peripherals that belonged to the core image when it was saved will have been lost, so they must be reconnected to the restored core image by means of the appropriate commands. In the case of an overlay program, the original program file will need to be ASSIGNed again, or the magnetic tape ONLINEd again, as appropriate. The restored core image is not entered by this command.

If the size of the program is in excess of the object program quota (an installation parameter), then the following message will be output:
EXECUTION OF YOUR PROGRAM MAY BE DELAYED AS ITS CORE SIZE EXCEEDS THE PROGRAM QUOTA
